Berlin, October 8, 2010 – The prize for “Best Stand” in the sector focus goes to Galerie Lüttgenmeijer of Berlin. The gallery was chosen by an independent jury – consisting of Ariane Beyn, Artistic Director of the DAAD artists’ programme, Berlin; Axel Haubrok, collector, Berlin, and Holger Liebs, Chief Editor Monopol, Berlin. The jury gave the reasons for their selection as follows: “With the double presentation of the work of David Jablonowski and Erica Baum, the Berlin-based gallery Lüttgenmeijer has created a minimalist and convincing space. With its formal precision, it stands out from the other presentations of the sector focus. Jablonowski’s seemingly empty picture carriers, the sculptural aesthetics of digital apparatuses and the shimmering surfaces of his sculptural works are an appealing contrast to the works of Erica Baum which consist of white surfaces, patterned by inscription techniques and ornaments.”
Harald Wolf, Mayor and Senator for Economy, Technology and Women: “With this prize, we want to express the high significance art and the art market has for Berlin. Among all the creative sectors in the city, the art market is most strongly active internationally. I am pleased that this once again shows at art forum.”
